“When In Doubt, Just Wear Denim.”
“When in doubt, just wear denim.”
I feel like this is a quote I could probably see myself saying in almost any situation when it comes to getting ready. There are so many ways to wear denim now that it doesn’t have to be limited to just your jeans. How about a denim dress? Yes, a denim dress is what we are going to be styling today, and let’s just say that I am here for it.
To begin, this Elan Lauren Denim Dress on its own is adorable. It’s feminine and western all in one simple little outfit. The long sleeves make it perfect to wear this time of year, and the tapered waist gives it a nice fit, not to mention the fun ruffle detail on the cuffs that add some flirtiness to the dress. I am wearing the small, and I think it fits true to size.
Here is how to style this dress with some simple accessories. I chose a brightly colored wild rag to just tie around my neck and then added the Midge Tooled Leather Crossbody in blue. This bag was perfect because it pulled out the turquoise color in my wild rag. I then chose some simple silver concho earrings to accent the silver buttons of the dress. For shoes, I chose my tried and true Corral boots [see a similar, great price-point style here!] to finish off the look. There ya have it, a fun and flirty little denim outfit.
Let’s add some warmth to this dress. For those really cold days, a great way to style this dress is to throw your favorite chunky sweater over top of the dress. Pull the collar through the neck hole of the sweater to balance out the denim look of the outfit. I chose to wear a belt over my dress and then tucked my sweater up into the belt to give it a cropped look that gave it a cleaner finish. I added these tooled leather booties to keep things neutral. For the bag, I chose a simple brown fringe back but added some color and fun to my outfit by choosing a patterned purse strap. Check out these options here. I added some earrings that matched the maroon color in my purse strap to pull those two items together.
You could change this outfit up by swapping the sweater for your favorite crewneck sweatshirt and the booties with some sneakers and finishing it up with a ball cap.
Our last outfit is when we need to take some denim into work with us. This outfit is so simple but yet sophisticated. All I did was add a simple belt around my natural waistline over the dress and then layered the Brenna Horse Print Blazer over top. I kept the same tooled booties on and added a simple Navajo pearl necklace. I chose the dark brown fringe purse to accent the colors in the blazer. And look at that, a denim dress that is ready for business.
So no matter the occasion let this dress help you decide what level to take your outfit too. It is such a great piece that can be worn over and over again.
